Video # 4 of the All About Medicare video series;

How To Find The Best Part D Drug Plan

This video is Part 2 of a two-part presentation on Medicare Part D prescription drug insurance.  In this video, I take you step-by-step on how to shop for and evaluate a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan using the government website; Medicare.gov.  By the end of this 27-minute video you will know precisely how to find the best Part D drug plan Medicare has to offer you, using the official Medicare website.

Many insurance agents and brokers offer Medicare Part D drug plans when they offer Medicare Supplement plans.  However, taking an individual agent or brokers recommendation without going through the process I detail in this video can be a very expensive mistake.  You see, what some agents don’t reveal is that in order for us to a Part D plan the must spend about one day each year certifying for the plan.  There are almost 30-plans available across the country and at least 17 to 20 in each state.  No agent is going to spend nearly 30-days each year certifying for every plan.  That is a month of unpaid meetings.  Instead, they choose one or two popular plans and offer those plans to everyone.  Ouch.

Other agents who work for a specific insurance company can only offer that companies plans.  If they are not right for you, you can spend $100s or even $1,000s more for prescriptions than you would with the right plan.

Take the time to watch this video.  It will save you $1,000s over your lifetime and prevent you from making some very costly mistakes.

In Part 1, I explained  the two different ways you can get Part D prescription drug coverage and the pros and cons of each. We discuss what you need to watch for, when you need shop for your plan and when you can purchase coverage.  We talk about the penalty Medicare levies for not purchasing a Part D plan, and when you can delay purchasing coverage without being penalized.

Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage is not expensive.  However, if not  managed correctly it can be the most expensive part of Medicare.  The wrong plan can be a very expensive mistake.  The Medicare Part D plans are all different and change their benefits and cost each year.  We show you how to keep up with the changes and keep your costs to a minimum.
